Inks Deal for Two 145,000 m3 LNG Carriers |

October 18, 2006 - Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation
announced today that it has signed contracts
to build two 145,000 m3 L‚mG carriers for NiMiC
No.2 S.A. and NiMiC No.4 S.A., Panama-based
joint ventures between Nippon Yusen Kabushiki
Kaisha and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. Both carriers
will be built at Kawasakifs Sakaide Shipyard
with initial delivery scheduled for the fourth
quarter of 2009 followed by the second delivery
in the fourth quarter of 2010. The carriers
will be chartered by Taiwanfs Chinese Petroleum
Corporation. Two sister ships designed by
Kawasaki will also be built by Mitsubishi
Heavy Industries for this project.
The LNG carriers will be equipped with four
Moss spherical tanks developed by Kawasaki
with a cargo capacity of 145,000 m3.
Kawasaki Shipbuilding was selected for its
superior LNG carrier technology, highly reliable
and experienced construction and maintenance
capabilities, as well as for its design superiority,
which allows for a capacity of 145,000 m3
of LNG on these vessels with a hull size able
to enter most major LNG terminals worldwide. |
